So what’s left?
We have officially passed the halfway point of the 2014-15 Rotary year. And as has been mentioned in a few spots, much has been accomplished in the first half. But we have much to continue to work on and new things happening.
What’s left? For starters we have a District 7620 conference that will be held in our own back yard. You will be hearing much more about this in the next few weeks/months but please circle May 8 and 9 on your calendar for all the happenings.
The Next Big Project has begun looking for the club’s (yes you guessed it) Next Big Project. Pat Gunnin and his committee are starting discussions on where/how the club should spend the $75,000 that was allocated to what they decide.
The Board approved up to $40,000 for a project in South Africa that could involve up to 7 other Rotary clubs and be put toward a Rotary International Global Grant totally over $200,000. More details to follow on this.
RISE will be (or has by the time you read this) starting another class in Lucas Village working with individuals to gain meaningful employment. The group of Rotarians and non-Rotarians encompassing many groups has had a significant impact on those we have helped.
Our annual Paul Harris event will be held this spring/early summer recognizing members outside our club for the good work they do in serving others.
The club’s officers for next year have been working behind the scenes with current officers and Board members as well as District trainers to insure there is a seamless transition when we begin next Rotary year on July 1st. Training sessions are being attended, Rotary Leadership Institute sessions are being held, and new officers are starting to learn the ropes.
Your Fellowship committee has a number of events still on the calendar that promise to be fun and different.
The Program committee has programs scheduled into April that will continue the excellent group of speakers we have been able to enjoy. (By the way if you have suggestions for a program please contact Sharon Jacko.)
The World Peace and Understanding event sponsored by the 4 Frederick Rotary clubs will be coming up February 17th at 5:30. Please put this on your calendar as this will be another great event.
And last but not least (and certainly not the final thing going on) are all the Hands on Projects on the books and still being planned. Bikes for the World, Visitation Academy cleanup, Lincoln Panther Running Club, and more.
All good stuff and all being done by a group of Type A overachievers that just keep on getting things done. Have a great 2015!!!
